Christmas Crack. If you've never tried this you're missing out! Really easy recipe and always a hit at home!

This is well... simply delicious! Christmas Crack, also known as Saltine Cracker Candy is of course extremely popular over the Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays. Often made and cut into pieces, wrapped as gifts, or simply for the family to enjoy at home. I would suggest you make up two batches of Christmas Crack because this goes fast!

This is often made for gifts, so you could make up a batch and pop some pieces in a nice mason jar, tie a Christmas ribbon around the jar and viola! A perfect Christmas present!

Christmas Crack. If you've never tried this you're missing out! Really easy recipe and always a hit at home!

This recipe has been generously shared by Cathy Kopp. Cathy tells me she used the basics from a recipe she saw at Mommy's Kitchen and has also kindly added a few notes and tips along the way of how she made this Christmas Crack recipe so everyone can make this!

Ingredients

1 ½ sleeves saltine crackers
1 ¼ cups unsalted butter
1 ¼ cup light brown sugar
8 oz package Heath Milk Chocolate Toffee Bits

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400 F. Line a greased or sprayed rimmed baking sheet (16" x 11") and cover with foil or parchment so it also comes up the sides. This will stop the mixture from sticking and also help when you remove from the pan after. ** If using foil, it is advisable to grease the surface of that too to avoid the sugars from sticking when baking.

2. Put down a single layer of crackers to cover the pan.

3. In a saucepan, add the sugar and butter and heat until it has all melted and begins to boil. Be careful because this mixture is HOT. Give it a stir and when the syrup is boiling, continue to boil for 3 full minutes.

4. After 3 minutes, pour the mixture, CAREFULLY (It is hot remember!) over the crackers, spreading evenly and place in the oven for 5 minutes.

5. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the milk chocolate toffee bits all over whilst still hot. Allow to completely cool then break into pieces.

  1. 5 stars
I’ve made this several times & it’s really good, also used cinnamon graham crackers, it’s DELICIOUS?? my Grandchildren love it❤

  2. I used two 8 oz Milk chocolate candy bars. Broke them into pieces and ground them into What Looked like sand.. They were essier to pour onto the caramel crackers, the candy is still cooling, so ill need to come back later with further taste review, but how can those ingrediënt Go wrong!

  3. As hard as it is to believe I’m starting to begin my plans, recipes and ideas for the months coming up to Christmas and Thanksgiving and other gift giving times. It’s only about a 100 days left. I came across this recipe and it looks like something I would definitely like to try. However I have one problem at the moment, knowing how many servings this should make. I hate to be picky but when something says “servings” and the information is 16 by 11 inch baking sheet it doesn’t tell me squat. In a way that’s sort of saying its one serving of a 16 x 11 tray. Now I know that’s its intended to be. But having never made this before I haven’t a clue how sweet it is, should the pieces be very small (like a piece of fudge) because its so rich or extremely sweet or should they be more about the size of a brownie? When you or people you know make this and cut it how many cuts do you make each way? How many pieces do you aim for when cutting them when its finished and ready to be served or packaged? It’s like people posting a recipe and under Yield they put “one pie” or “one cake”. Well heck I know that! I want to know does this serve 10 or 12 or 18 or 36? How many SERVINGS (normal and average, I know there are some out there that this might make 6 or 8 servings but I’m not interested in the piggies in the world, just what normal people consider a serving. thanks for your help…..

  4. I hate it when people say something looks good, so I wanted to come back and actually review this after I made it. This was beyond delicious. Everyone absolutely loved it, even though they were trying to watch what they eat. I myself couldn’t get enough of this. I wasn’t sure how this would turn out with saltine crackers, but it was so, so good! Seriously, if you haven’t made this yet, you need to! I had no problem with breaking this into pieces, gave it away as a homemade treat for the holidays, was well-received by everyone, they were disappointed when it ran out (me too). I will definitely make this again, thanks for the recipe!

  5. I’ve tried to make this recipe twice, and can’t get get to the “break into pieces” point of the recipe. I end up with chewy, inedible crack!

  6. This recipe is awesome! I added semi sweet chocolate chips along with the heath bar and topped with Christmas sprinkles. This is a new favorite!

  7. My late Mom had hand written this recipe out for me over 20 years ago! Although that’s not the name she called it ! I lost the recipe, and I’m thrilled to see this! Thank you! I’m trying this tomorrow! I hope it’s the same!

  8. Would love to try it but have never heard of saltine crackers nor the Health Chocolate. They are not in the shops in UK, Anyone got any ideas of what I can use?
    Regards
    Mike S

    1. Hi Mike, yes, for the UK, you can use Ritz Salted Crackers. they come in a red box and you can get them from any of the supermarkets like Asda, Sainsburys, tesco etc. For the toffee, the Heath Bits are basically chocolate coated toffee, so you could use Poppets and chop them up in to bits. This is a link for Sainsburys so you can see what the box looks like http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/groceries/single-bar-chocolate/poppets-chocolates-toffee
      hope this helps!

    2. Saltiness are plain soup crackers and the chocolate I use is semi sweet chocolate chips. At xmas I crunch up a few candy canes and sprinkle on top. My kids used to love bagging it in Xmas clear plastic bags and give it to their teachers. Goodluck!
