Caramelized Onions and Lentils. A wonderful side dish goes perfect with a crockpot dinner, or some nice chicken or pork chops, or a roast turkey dinner too! Really tasty and very easy to make. No messing or fussing!
What an easy and delicious recipe we have for you today, using very basic, budget-friendly ingredients, and incredibly easy to make.
We've also had people make this for their lunch, just served in a bowl with a slice of bread. It's that simple and versatile!
The ingredients are simple, and you will likely have them to hand already. We haven't added any herbs or spices, just simple salt and pepper to season. Feel free to spice it up a little if you wish!
The smells when this is cooking is wonderful.

2 sliced onions
1 Tablespoon butter
2 Teaspoons olive oil
2 cups cooked lentils
Salt and pepper to taste.
Optional: You can also add 1 teaspoon of brown sugar if you would like a hint of sweet
Fry the onions slow with butter and only a couple of teaspoons of olive oil.
When they started to get brown I added salt to taste. Add the brown sugar if using
Then add 2 cups of cooked lentils and a little bit of fresh pepper.
Cook on a gentle heat, stirring occasionally until the lentils are cooked through.
Serve hot when done.
