Cathy's Notes :
I purchase large quantities of roasts when on sale. You can season and foil wrap them, then put them into freezer bags, label, and freeze. The foil-wrapped, frozen roast can go right into the slow cooker, but you MUST use the LOW setting for the longer period of time.

says:I just cooked a 5 pound choice beef roast in foil; cooked in crockpot on low for 5 hours can be cut with a fork. In fact, next time i will cook 40 minutes per pound on low. No crockpot clean up and no liner. Just double wrapped foil directly into cold crockpot.
I’ve cooked all grades of pot roast in foil in crockpot on low. I will never waste money on lesser grade than chuck.
Doriana
says:Should you layer the foil shiny side in, or out? Want to try this tonight, just don’t want to mess it up!
Lovefoodies
says:Hi Doriana, it doesn’t matter about which side. The foil is just to keep the meat moist and covered in the slow cooker. Hope that helps!

The recipe has been tried and tested by many, successfully. If you are using a standard slow cooker, then there should not be a problem. Hope this helps!
