1. Generously season both sides of the roast. I use salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dried minced onion.
2. Wrap in one layer of heavy duty aluminum foil, turn, and wrap in a second layer of foil.
3. Place in slow cooker. I always use slow cooker liners for easy clean up.
Cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-6 hours.
For those looking for Crock-Pot liners, please see below for an idea what to use:
4. Remove packet from slow cooker and allow to rest for 20 minutes unopened. Carefully open the foil, slice and serve.

Cathy's Notes :
I purchase large quantities of roasts when on sale. You can season and foil wrap them, then put them into freezer bags, label, and freeze. The foil-wrapped, frozen roast can go right into the slow cooker, but you MUST use the LOW setting for the longer period of time.

DO I ADD WATER TO SLOW COOKER
Followed beef recipe, but rested beef on 1cm thick slices of onion prior to wrapping. Absolutely fantastic result, with great juices for gravy! This is the best recipe ever. Thanks very much.
I am trying this today ….. It looks yummy! I’m adding my veggies right in 28th the meat….I hope it turns out ok this way!!!!!
I just cooked a 5 pound choice beef roast in foil; cooked in crockpot on low for 5 hours can be cut with a fork. In fact, next time i will cook 40 minutes per pound on low. No crockpot clean up and no liner. Just double wrapped foil directly into cold crockpot.
I’ve cooked all grades of pot roast in foil in crockpot on low. I will never waste money on lesser grade than chuck.
Should you layer the foil shiny side in, or out? Want to try this tonight, just don’t want to mess it up!
Hi Doriana, it doesn’t matter about which side. The foil is just to keep the meat moist and covered in the slow cooker. Hope that helps!
I made this yesterday used Bolar Blade.l seasoned it with French onion soup, wrapped in two layers of foil.Sat roast on foil balls
cooked on high for 6 hours.
Once cooked l left in foil and refrigerate .next day l made a onion
gravy added sliced Bolar Blade it was melt in the mouth♥️♥️♥️rd
My crockpot manual says to always use a certain amount of liquid… is it safe to cook it like this?
The recipe has been tried and tested by many, successfully. If you are using a standard slow cooker, then there should not be a problem. Hope this helps!
I would add foil wrapped potatoes/veggies to cook along with for a complete meal.
That is a great idea Bushcha! Please enjoy :)
Still Pool Monksays:
Found this via G+. Looks wonderful, and no doubt cheaper in terms of electricity than using my oven. Thanks.
Glad you will try it! Please enjoy :)

I’ll add these points to the recipe in case people don;t see it here. Thank you!
