Ingredients

1 & ½ sleeves saltine crackers
1 & ¼ cups unsalted butter
1 & ¼ cup light brown sugar
1 lb Bacon

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400 F. Line a greased or sprayed rimmed baking sheet (16" x 11") and cover with foil or parchment so it also comes up the sides.

2. Chop the bacon into bits and cook in a pan until crispy. Drain on some kitchen paper, pat down to remove as much grease as possible, then set aside.

3. Put down a single layer of crackers to cover the pan

4. In a saucepan, add the sugar and butter and heat until it has all melted and begins to boil. Be careful because this mixture is HOT. Give it a stir and when the syrup is boiling, continue to boil for 3 full minutes.

5. After 3 minutes, pour the mixture, CAREFULLY (It is hot remember!) over the crackers and place in the oven for 5 minutes.

6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the bacon all over. Allow to completely cool then break in to pieces.

This photo shows a tray of bacon crack without the bacon! You can add some chopped nuts instead, or chocolate bits. Make it how you like!

  1. I added some chopped pecans to it before I baked it so they got nice and toasted. Then added the bacon when I pulled it out of the oven. Everyone loved this!

  2. I highly suggest and recommend adding to each recipe how to best store and how long will be fresh. Others do this and I’ve found it very helpful especially since I’m always looking for new recipes to send to loved ones out of state. Thank you

  3. Does the bacon crack candy travel well? My son is deployed on a destroyer- somewhere in the Pacific. He has loved this recipe in the past, but I am wondering how it will be, if packaged well, potentially 3 weeks enroute?

  4. I don’t know what happened to mine. It didn’t set up very well an the bacon didn’t stick on the cracker. It tasted good though.

  5. 5 stars
Christmas Crack has been around for years in many cookbooks. Recipes may not be exactly the same but very similar. You would have to go way far back to change the name.

  6. Why do you have to call this “crack”? What are we teaching our kids? That “crack” is a good thing? Shame on you! There are many other great words you could have used. Please change it.

    1. not my job to teach your kids anything and if you were any kind of good parent you would teach your children several things…one is that there is a difference and they need to use common sense when it comes to what is out in the world, second, this “crack” has been a term for many things for hundreds of years…get over it..and third…it is not now nor ever my job to change what I say or do as an adult for your children…they are kids and they do not have the same privileges than an adult has…period…
