Jill
says:This was a disaster. Butter and sugar is like a paste, so it doesn’t spread around. After 9 mins. Smoke was pouring from my oven and they were black.
Lovefoodies
says:Hi Jill, sorry to hear about your disaster. Did you pour the melted butter over the tortilla strips and then sprinkle the sugar? I’m wondering if you describe a paste it sounds like you might have mixed all the ingredients together with unmelted butter? Just trying to troubleshoot what might have happened.
Rachel
says:Can these be done the day before? Hosting a “fiesta” shower after work.
Lovefoodies
says:Hi Rachel, unfortunately, these will become quite chewy if not eaten straight away, so I wouldn’t advise doing them the day before.
However, I think if you need to make something the day before and can be easily transported and still taste really good, I can suggest some of our nut recipes, I’ll pop them here and you can take a look at the different ones. Perhaps you could choose something there or make a few different ones to take along. They will all store well in a plastic air tight container for you to transport easily and taste perfect the next day! The different nut recipes are here https://lovefoodies.com/?s=nuts
Have fun with the party!
Janie
says:They look like flour tortillas used, correct?
Jackie
says:If you want to save calories just moisten the whole tortillas by brushing them with water. Then sprinkle cinnamon and regular sugar mixture on the whole tortilla then use a pizza cutter and cut in strips. Bake as directed.
Ruth
says:I used small sized tortillas, cut them into triangles, then after pouring the melted butter over them, dipped them into a mixture of sugar and cinnamon before baking. Then used them to dip into warm chocolate sauce – yum yum yum, thank you for the recipe
Lovefoodies
