Here's a quick recipe for you all! It is called my Crispy Breaded Shrimp, or prawns. It's very quick and fuss free, and of course delicious too!

For this recipe, I have kept it very simple, allowing the flavor of the shrimp to be the star of the show.
In the photos, I've served the shrimp with my Lemon and Garlic Butter Sauce, the recipe for that is at the end of this page of you'd like to try that too. (It's also super quick and easy!)

These breaded shrimp are baked and not fried, and so they are not greasy, but have a fresh, crisp coating, using panko breadcrumbs.

The recipe is flexible, so if you wish, you could sprinkle some of your favorite spices such as Cajun, paprika, lemon, or garlic salt to the shrimp before breading them. It is up to you.

Crispy Breaded Shrimp. An incredible easy and quick recipe, serve as a starter or as party food. Oh so good! No frying either!

If you will be serving these with a dipping sauce, such as a sweet chili dip, or a BBQ dipping sauce, then I would suggest you simply salt and pepper the shrimp before coating with the breadcrumbs.

All you need to do is think of the flavors when you make these and the dip/sauce you will use, so it goes together nicely.

It is very quick and easy to make, so give it a go and enjoy!

Ingredients

12 medium to large Shrimp, deveined, shell off and washed
1 egg
1 cup of Panko Breadcrumbs
Salt and pepper to taste, or your favorite spices.
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 190 C or 375 F. Line a baking tray with foil and lightly brush a little olive oil (to stop from sticking later)

2. Remove the shell from the shrimp. I like to leave a little bit of shell on at the tail end so they look nice and easier to handle when you eat them. Then de-vein by removing the black part along the centre back of each shrimp. Wash thoroughly and pat dry with kitchen paper. Sprinkle some salt and pepper on the shrimp.

3. In a bowl, beat the egg. In a separate bowl, add the breadcrumbs.

4. Dip the shrimp in the egg, and then the breadcrumbs. Push the breadcrumbs gently on each shrimp so it sticks. Then repeat, by dipping again in the egg and then the breadcrumbs. This is called double coating. When done, arrange the shrimp on the baking tray, and drizzle a little olive oil over the shrimp.

5. Place in the oven and bake for 8 - 10 minutes or until you can see they have turned pink. (see the tails of the shrimp on my photos). If you cook them for too long, they can turn out a little chewy and rubbery, so keep an eye on the time and don't forget them!

6. Serve hot with your favorite dips.
