There's a wonderful combination of spices and of course ginger that make up Libby's family recipe and oh yes, her family don't take long to devour the entire batch! So be sure to make plenty and enjoy!

Yield: Makes 4 dozen

Ingredients

2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cloves
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg(beaten)
1/4 cup molasses

Instructions

1. Sift together flour, salt,soda and spices and sit aside.

2. Cream together shortening brown sugar. Add egg and beat until fluffy. Add dry ingredients and mix well.

3. Chill dough and then roll into balls and roll in sugar.

4. Place on greased pans(use parchment paper) and bake for 12 min. at 350 F.
