Ingredients

The Cake

2 Cups / 400 g Sugar
2 cups / 250 g of all purpose flour
¾ cup / 90 g unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp of baking soda
1 tsp of baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup / 235 ml milk
½ cup / 120 ml oil
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup / 240 ml of Kahlua (If you want alcohol free, swap this for same amount in water)

The Cream

2 cups / 470 ml of whipping cream
1 TBS of sugar
1 TBS of cornstarch
3 TBS Kahlua (optional)
Please note, if you want to make this dessert alcohol free, you can just leave out the Kahlua OR use Toriani Kahlua Syrup, it even comes sugar-free (Splenda). Excellent substitute! as suggested by Pam.

Instructions

1. Make the cake first: Beat the eggs till fluffy, add sugar and vanilla.. Then just add the remaining ingredients.

2. Put in 9x13 baking pan and put in the oven at 350 F / 180 C/ Gas 4 for 30 mins until completely done. Let completely cool.

3. Once the cake has cooled, make the cream by adding all the ingredients to a bowl and whip until stiff.

4. As soon as cake is cooled, cut into cubes.

5. Place in a bowl of your choice to serve, cake, then creme, then cake, then creme, then cake, cream and grate chocolate over the top for topping. Since I love kahlua I add a splash of Kahlua into my whipped cream too!

I looked up KUHULA liqueurs and there several kinds. Does it matter to picked the specific kind? Which one you used?
    Just clear up the cloud.

    1. Hi Natalie, yes it can. However, I would leave the cream until the day of serving, then whip it and add to the cake. This is just incase the cream breaks down and becomes watery. Hope that helps!

  2. For those who do not want the alcohol, but DO want the Kahlua flavor, use Toriani Kahlua Syrup, it even comes sugar-free (Splenda). Excellent subsitute!
PS: Grammar Police is really bugged that you use “than” instead of the proper “then” in your layering instructions. Please fix!!!!
