For this recipe, we've made the pizza dough from scratch. You can use ready-made pizza dough, or use a package of pizza dough mix and make it that way. Just go with whatever is more convenient for you.

The filling is full of the flavors of a taco, the ground beef is cooked using taco seasoning, onions, and garlic, in a tomato sauce, and then spread on the pizza base and baked, of course with a generous topping of cheese.

Once baked, this pizza becomes a taco pizza! Add the usual ingredients you get with a taco, such as diced tomatoes, lettuce, jalapenos, sour cream and you've got a delicious taco pizza!

We recommend serving this with a spoonful of guacamole, and spicy tomato salsa, but of course, you can pick and choose what you'd like to serve this with to suit yourself.

The recipe itself is easy to make and doesn't take very long, even quicker if you're using ready-made pizza crusts. For the beef topping, you can even cook a batch and freeze it so you have some ready for when you want to make a pizza. It's convenient if you have busy weekdays and come home from work and fancy a pizza!

As for parties, if you're planning a party or perhaps going to a potluck, you can make tray-sized taco pizzas, and have the chilled toppings on the side for people to add what they like on their slice of pizza. It's an easy way to feed a crowd!

Ingredients

Prepare favorite pizza crust recipe, You may use packaged store-bought pizza crust mix. I like to use this recipe

For the pizza crust

1 Package dry active yeast
1 cup / 235 ml warm water
2 cups / 250 g flour
2 Tablespoons Olive oil
1 tsp salt
2 tsp sugar

For the Taco Pizza topping

1 .5 lbs / 680 g ground beef
½ a chopped onion
4 pieces fresh garlic (optional)
1 pkg of taco seasoning mix or a can of tomatoes
Can of pizza sauce
Olives (optional)
As much of your favorite cheese as you like
Garnish with a layer of sour cream, guacamole, tomato salsa, lettuce, jalapenos, diced tomatoes

Instructions

To make the pizza crust

1 In a small bowl dissolve dry active yeast into warm water, let stand for 10 minutes.

2 Meanwhile prepare crust as follows - Combine flour with 2 Tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp salt, 2 tsp sugar (optional)

3 Add the yeast mixture, mix until a stiff dough is formed.

4. Cover and let rise until doubled in size, approximately 30 minutes.

For the pizza topping

1. Brown ground beef with the chopped onion & 4 pieces of fresh garlic (optional)

2. Drain. Stir in one package of taco seasoning mix with the amount of water indicated on the pkg. or a can of tomatoes.

3. Spread a can of pizza sauce on top of the crust.

4. Top with ground beef mixture, cheese, and olives if you like.

5. I bake it in preheated oven 400F, Gas 6, 200C for 20 - 25 minutes or until crust is golden brown and cheese is melted.

Remove from oven. Let stand for about 5 minutes, then add the sour cream, lettuce, and tomato layers, and a spoonful of guacamole and tomato salsa. Feel free to add any other toppings such as scallions, jalapenos, and serve with a lovely pico de gallo salad.
