Nancy
says:Can this recipe be made ahead of time? A few days. Thanks
Lovefoodies
says:Hi Nancy, I wouldn’t recommend making this more than a day ahead because of the dairy content and also I fear the apples may give out liquid and that could make the dish watery if left for too long. You could make ahead and freeze, and simply warm through before serving if you needed to making it more than a day in advance. I hope that helps!
ann
says:Can it be made in a 13×9″ pan? And if so, how long should I bake it?
lovefoodies
says:Hi Ann, yes I don’t see why you can’t bake this in a 13 x 9 pan. I have not tried to myself, but I would imagine the cook time will be much less since the pan will not be as deep. So I would recommend checking if it is ready after 30 minutes, give or take. Just have a poke in the middle of the pan to check it is no longer runny and you should be fine. Keep the same oven temp.
Hope that helps!

says:Always looking for a good recipe for the breakfast club at school that is healthy and filling for the wee ones. Can this be made ahead of time and warmed the morning of use or could you bake and freeze?
lovefoodies
says:Hi Carole, yes indeed. You can make ahead and reheat. It will freeze nicely, again, I would suggest to bring back to room temperature and then reheat.
Hope this helps and hope we will get the thumbs up from your breakfast club!
Carole Moses
says:OK – Verdict is in and the kids LOVE this, thank you so much. If you have any other suggestions for our breakfast club that has been a crowd pleaser for kids, please send them along. Thank you!!!
lovefoodies
says:Hi Carole! Phew :) Sooooo glad we got the thumbs up from the young ones. They’re always the hardest of critics! I have got a couple of other recipes which I know the kiddies absolutely love. They’re also budget friendly and flexible with ingredients, so for your purpose, I think you could probably do something.
This one is Fluffy Pies (uses egg whites and frozen veggies in a muffin pan) https://lovefoodies.com/caris-easy-fluffy-pies.html
Easy Breakfast Muffins https://lovefoodies.com/easy-breakfast-muffins.html
oh, and one more, but I am not sure if you have time to make it as it is bread, but you can do it the day before etc. Blueberry Cream Cheese Swirly Bread. It’s easy to make, but as you know, bread needs a little time to rise etc. https://lovefoodies.com/blueberry-cream-cheese-swirly-bread.html
If you let me know what age range you are cooking for I can come up with a few more!
Have fun and thanks very much for the feedback. So happy they enjoyed it!

says:We are an elementary school from JK-Gr8 and average a service of approx. 130 kids per day. Unfortunately there is not many volunteers and the two other mothers and I work full time jobs (day or evening shifts) so we share the load and go to school to bake what we can and freeze to make it easier ~ team work at its best. Thanks for the other suggestions, I will give them a whirl and see what my samplers think of them. A few additions will switch things up a little from regular routine for them.
lovefoodies
says:Gosh! Well a huge pat on the back to you and the other mothers. I am sure it must be hard but very rewarding when you can help the youngsters out with some good food!
I’m sure whatever you cook will be wonderful Carole!
