Easy Chocolate Party Cake! Wow wow wow! Let me tell you, this is one delicious cake!
For all you chocolate fans, and let's face it, if you're having a celebration or you need to make a cake for someone's celebration, you can't go wrong if you choose chocolate for a cake.
This cake is made from scratch and is really easy to make.

All the ingredients are regular so you won't have any trouble finding them, and all you need to do is follow the instructions step by step, and hey presto! You will have a wonderfully soft, full-flavored, rich, and moist chocolate cake.
The frosting is an extra hit of chocolate, and of course, it tastes amazing! Again, the frosting is a really easy recipe and doesn't involve much work at all. Using sour cream, you get a lovely texture and helps to keep the cake nice and moist.

Ingredients you'll need
The Cake
- Butter - softened
- Sugar - regular or castor
- Flour - All Purpose / Plain
- Baking powder
- Salt
- Eggs - lightly beaten
- Cocoa powder
- Milk
- Chocolate chips - Semi-Sweet
- Coffee Granules - expresso or any strong dissolving granules, (instant coffee)
- Hot water
Chocolate Filling and Topping
- MILK chocolate chips - semi-sweet
- DARK chocolate chips - semi-sweet
- Sour cream
Decoration
Mini whoppers, chocolate shavings etc.
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 160 C, 325 F. Grease and lightly flour two 8 inch or 20 cm loose bottomed round cake tins.
2. Prepare all your CAKE ingredients as follows:
In a bowl, sift flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
In a cup, add the coffee granules and semi-sweet chocolate bits then add the 5 Tablespoons boiling hot water. Stir until dissolved. Set aside.
3. Lightly beat eggs and add vanilla in a small bowl.
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar till light and fluffy.

Add egg mixture, a little at a time to the batter. Then add half the flour, then milk, then the rest of the flour, and then the chocolate, coffee, and hot water mixture (from the cup). Combine everything.

4. Transfer the batter to the 2 baking pans and bake for 30 - 35 mins or until skewer comes out clean.
Allow the cakes to rest for 2 minutes then remove from pans and place UPSIDE DOWN on a cooling rack. Allow to COMPLETELY cool before frosting.
Please note, bake times will vary slightly so please check for done – ness after 25 – 30 minutes of baking.

Make the Chocolate Filling and Topping
5. Place both chocolates in a heat-proof bowl, melt together over a saucepan of simmering water.
Once melted, remove from heat and stir until smooth.
Then add the sour cream and whisk using an electric whisk until it becomes thick.

6. Place one of the cakes onto the serving dish then spread some of the chocolate filling evenly over the cake. Place the second cake on top of the filling.
Then spread the remaining over the top of the cake and decorate with some chocolate shavings.
If the weather is hot, pop the filling in the fridge for 10 minutes to cool and thicken.

- ¼ cup or 60 ml milk
- 4 tablespoons semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon Strong Coffee Granules
- 5 Tablespoons hot water
Chocolate Filling and Topping
- 6 oz or 180 g of semi-sweet MILK chocolate chips
- 3 oz or 90 g semi-sweet DARK chocolate chips
- 7 Fl oz or 220 ml of sour cream
- Decoration:
- Mini whoppers, , chocolate shavings etc.
