2clovesgarlic chopped fine or 1 teaspoon fine chopped garlic from a jar
8ozcream cheese at room temperature
1/4cupheavy cream .add just enough to smooth out the mix
Melt the butter in 12 inch frying pan and add sliced onion. Fry over medium heat until almost fully caramelized then add the sugar to help the caramelization. Add the chopped garlic and finish frying till onions are a dark sweet caramelized mass of yumminess.
In a food processor, put all of the ingredients in and whiz until smooth. Leave a bit of the onion mix out until almost smooth and add at the end if you want some bigger chunks. Please note, add the heavy cream in stages as you blend, so you can get the consistency you like. The more cream you add, the looser the dip will be.
