Recipe by JoJo Lanthier
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 10 – 12 Minutes
Yield: Approx 5 dozen.
8 cups flour (amount may vary) leave 2 cups out and add as needed
1 cup cocoa
2-1/2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp salt
5 tbsp baking powder
4 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp all spice
2 cups crisco
2 cups milk
1 cup grape jelly
1 tsp vanilla
1 orange, squeeze juice
(optional: 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts)
1. Mix and set dry ingredients aside. Cream crisco and sugar well, add eggs one at a time. Add jam, nuts, and juice, gradually add dry ingredients.
2. Roll into balls (about the size of a large gumball) and bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Do not over bake. Cool and frost. as you like.
Notes: You can frost with a mixture of powdered sugar and water, thin enough to dip cookie in, and sprinkle if desired.
JoJo’s Tip: If you add 1 Tablespoon of flour to the frosting mix it will make it shiny.
